Create a sampling/promotion campaign to help Talon Energy Drink penetrate the already oversaturated energy drink market. The key to the success of this program is going to be breaking down the brand loyalty of consumers who have developed a devotion to an existing energy drink and/or converting soda and coffee drinkers into energy drink consumers.



Sandbox Marketing will design and implement an in-store sampling program that will drive brand awareness as well as drive sales and conversions at Circle K retail locations in Denver, Oklahoma City and Albuquerque.

Sandbox Marketing designed and fabricated a mobile sampling tray that would allow the sampler to move around the convenience store and engage customers as they are purchasing coffee, snacks, soda or even gas in some locations. By building a tray that can be worn and supported by over-the-shoulder straps, the sampler could be more engaging and personable while having their hands free to pour samples and show the product. Our job was to “GET BETWEEN THE DOORS”. The front door and cooler door that is. Our program was designed to reach consumers before they reach for their standard energy drink and offer then an alternative that tastes great and was on special.

When sampling to Talon Energy Drink’s 18-34 year old male target market, Sandbox recommended to utilize attractive and outgoing young women as brand ambassadors due to their willingness to socialize and the target market’s willingness to be approached by a woman. By finding responsible, young female brand ambassadors with promotional backgrounds, Sandbox Marketing would set this program in motion for success.

By working closely with Talon Energy Drink and Circle K, Sandbox Marketing cross-referenced sales figures for each market in order to find the highest performing stores in the energy drink category. These stores were then scheduled for sampling in the early mornings in order to reach those consumers who stop into their local Circle K in order to purchase energy drinks for their day at work.
